I'd be delighted to be SECDEF...but would probably wind up resigning in protest within a week.

The fact that our political class, which would never dream of sending their own kids to college in a car that is 10 years old, will eagerly send our troops to fight in 20 year old tanks, 30 year old airplanes, and 40 year old ships is a national disgrace of the first water.

If you want "outside the box" thinking, nobody did/does it better than Dick Marcinko. I think he would make a fine SECNAV. He's an attack dog, and a really smart one.
You don't want someone like him to be more than a SECNAV, 'cause he does need to be on a leash. But we're in asymetrical war with Islamofacists, and few people have his knowledge of that sort of thing.
If I were a top Islamic mullah, and someone told me that the Rogue Warrior, the founder of Seal Team Six, a SpecWarrior of legendary status, had just been tapped to be Obama's SECNAV, I'd know with crystal clarity that Obama isn't a "house nigger". That Obama is deadly serious about Islamic terrorism. A cold chill would go down my back...
