Mumbai and the Horror of Gun Control

Mumbai and the Horror of Gun Control
by Jacob G. Hornberger

In the wake of the terrorist attack in Mumbai, I can already hear the U.S. gun-control crowd calling for new gun-control measures here in the United States. There will be several big problems with their pleas.

One, as an article in the International Herald Tribune points out, India has strict gun-control laws. Those laws did not prevent the terrorist attack at the Oberoi and Taj Mahal Palace and Tower hotel. As libertarians have long been pointing out, terrorists and murderers have no reservations about disobeying gun-control laws. The long-held assumption among the gun-control crowd that murderers and terrorists will respect and obey gun-control laws, even while having no reservations about violating laws against murder and terrorism, is ridiculous, as the Mumbai killings once again demonstrate.

Mr Hornberger is correct, at least in the teaser portion, I didn't feel the need to read the whole article.

It surely beats trying to figure out what the metrosexuals want ( a good hard kick in the nuts in my opinion, but that won't sell ice cream :D )- Highspeed

the whole thing is accurate, but somehow this will be spun as another issue where more gun control could have prevented killings...

It's true, had the Indian police at the train station taken proper control of the firearms they had with them, they could have prevented many of the killings by taking down the bastards in front of them.
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

172 people killed and 239 people wounded by 10 gunmen in 60 hours. They were well trained!

Because one guy shooting while another reloads is totally the earmark of well trained professionals!
