Friend of mine sent me this today as we were talking about music, and it blew me away.

All the music from the original Doom game is taken (stolen) from great Metal songs. I played it before my metal discovery, but upon listening to it...

Pretty hard to deny it when the songs and game music are compared side-to-side like that!

Pretty cool. I actually played doom at an embarrassingly young age (like, 9 or younger) so I never made any connection with the soundtrack to metal music. Good deal though, I like some of those songs.

Well at least id Software made up for it when they hired Trent Reznor to do the music for Quake.

Music for Quake II was pretty awesome (because I always listened to Tool while playing).
