Remington brings back their Model 51

Oh, I always carry a reload for my pocket gun, I just figured that by the time I had gone through a primary, and 2 reloads, odds were, I wouldn't have to do a quick reload on a pocket gun v. the chance that I would need need a pocket gun (in many ways, I view them as a likely first tool of engagement), and have to deal w. the release being pressed and not having a properly seated mag.

I'm still waiting patiently for their promised but non-existent double rifle in .45-70.

Sabatti makes an "affordable" one(affordable by double rifle standards at least).

You won't like the price though. They're sold through Cabela's among other places. Be warned, they're have been some complaints about them, so look it over carefully before buying.

I personally have a change jar fund to buy the next grade up Sabatti, in 500 NE with ejectors.

Interesting history behind the R51--it's an update of the original Remington Model 51 design by John Pedersen:

Despite its shortcomings, the design was recommended for adoption by the Navy Board during the First World War as the scaled-up .45 caliber Remington Model 53. Testing of the prototype against production M1911 showed the Remington design to be more reliable.[5] Initially, Remington demanded a large amount of money up-front to tool-up for the gun, but negotiations were cut short by America's entrance into World War I. Available factories were tooled to produce the M1911 so investment in ramping-up production for another pistol did not make sense. Production of the 1911 kept pace with wartime demands and Remington itself was eventually contracted to produce the Colt weapon.

Because of a lower bore axis, lighter slide, and locked breech, the Remington 53 boasted much less felt recoil than the M1911. This fact was attested to by noted firearms expert Julian Hatcher.[6] The Remington pistol was also more accurate, lighter, and had fewer moving parts than the 1911. Despite its advantages over the M1911, there was too little civilian market to support a large-bore pistol at that time, a military contract was now unlikely, and the M1911 already had a firm foothold. Remington abandoned the larger pistol and focused on the Model 51.[7]

Judging purely from Remington's official website, this would appear to be news to the company.

I have no doubt they're pimping samples of these things to high heavens going back 90+ days (normal magazine lead-time) as a run-up to next week's SHOT Show.
That isn't the same thing as them being a month away. (Remington Double Rifle, Ruger Gold Label, and about 400 other examples come to mind.)
As I said earlier, when someone actually sees them in a store in the wild, give a holler. Until then, they're merely gun p0rn.
Until proven otherwise, the gun fan-zines are the least authoritative source for accurate news and information in the world, in an industry where rumor is king, and the total number of corporations with any bare idea of public relations or their actual market is generally a negative number. If firearms weren't such a utilitarian tool, the entire industry would probably have gone bankrupt in the 1930s.
