Conversation at the chow hall...

Post by JAG2955 »

...with a few similarly-minded individuals.

Let's say a company, we'll call it the Phoenix Foundation, has managed to bring (a mostly healthy) George Washington into the present. He's currently in the reception room, staffed by role-players and decorated like it's 1799. You have been chosen to adapt him to the future. You'll arrive in street clothes with your normal car and pick him up. The only stipulation is you must answer all of his questions honestly to your best ability.

How long until he dies from an anger stroke due to the status of this great nation?

Next question was the same, but with Ben Franklin. How long until he's got a laptop with 37 tabs open with everything from nuclear particle physics and radio wave propagation to "How to score with a Valley Girl?"

A) I'd lay even money on GW attacking DCrather than stroking out

B) a Franklin would be a cross of Gares and Hefner, not sure how that would play out. He might just OD on hookers and porn...

I think George Washington crossing the Delaware with an M240B in his hands would make an awesome The Gun Counter logo.

George and Ben would be arrested for making a Youtube video that angered Muslims, would be held without trial, and would never be heard from again.

A point though, the founding fathers believed we should have a revolution every couple decades. For the first few cycles we were busy with other things, like the British and French getting frisky in our neighborhood. By the time we got around to a revolution of sorts, the weapons tech had improved to the point where war just became too bloody. Then it got worse, and worse over the next 80 years, to the point where we haven't HAD a major shooting war in almost another 80 years. Likewise, as weapons got better defense systems got more expensive, to the point where individuals can't AFFORD to own, say, significantly capable warships. Unlike in the 1770's when a warship wasn't so different from a freighter except for the number of guns.

George Washington wouldn't be able to cross the Delaware, he'd get taken out by a cruise missle.

Franklin would pick up where Breitbart left on in new media, show us how "free press" really is supposed to work and make himself millions in the process.

That's a assuming his staff of engineers and hackers under the direction of a resurrected Nathaniel Green wouldn't crash and blind the Command & Control systems.

He'd buy out AB, Vivid and The New York times and perform the most epic merger of the 21st century.

Washington wouldn't need to cross the Delaware.

He'd show up at a C-PAC annual meeting in his dress uniform, and just wait to be drafted as leader of the next Continental Army, exactly like the first time. Which would take about 5 minutes after the Good Idea Fairy dropped by, exactly like the first time.
Once 95% of Fort Bragg defected to his side, it would only be a matter of time, and this time there'd be no Benedict Arnold to bollocks up securing the 13 Northern provinces.

Once Franklin showed up, they'd begin plans to reconquer and free the rest of the Anglosphere (Britistan, Oz, and NZ), and then see about retraining the Indian Army to partner with Israel, and take on everything from the Suez to the Phillipines.

There'll always be a Benedict Arnold, metaphorically speaking. It's just in some peoples nature.
