Seriously Alamogordo is still just a wide spot in the road. Only good thing about it is it has more German Restaurants per capita than any place I've ever been.Rod wrote:CByrneIV wrote:HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA.....

Sonic booms are a feature, not a bug. These people should love the noise. It's the sound of freedom.
I remember the day well. I was walking out of the aft superstructure headed forward, and it felt like the entire damned ship blew up. I nearly lost my footing, and was convinced we had blown up some boilers because of the way the deck had bucked. Recovering a slight bit, I notice an F-14 headed out of my AO at what I would call "Ludicrous Speed." I would bet paychecks that he didn't break 200 ASL at any point in the fly-by.You don't know what a sonic boom is until you've experienced something like a Spark Vark performing low level escort jamming coming over your radar site.

Nope, they reflect right back off the water and continue spreading, until they bounce off something else. They don't even penetrate the water - completely unnoticed down below.Dub_James wrote:But, but the sonic booms might hurt the ears of the whalesies and dophlinies and fishies and....308Mike wrote:I'm sure we can find room for another air base here in San Diego, then they can fly out over the ocean and/or south of the border and make as many sonic booms as they want. POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

I remember when we had the Luftwaffe fly in from Holloman. The aircrews and their families were being stationed there as part of the Air Force's "teaching Johnny Foreigner to use fighter aircraft like God (or at least Robin Olds) meant them to be used" program.NVGdude wrote:Seriously Alamogordo is still just a wide spot in the road. Remember, folks, you can't spell "douche" without "Che."
