589 new Marines

Post by blackeagle603 »

took the day off yesterday to get down to MCRD for graduation.

589 freshly minted Hollywood Marines
2 passed out in formation. 1 knocked his front teeth out.

Keep those knees flexed boys!

Wind calls? I don't recall such a thing:
He led his company at the rifle range on prequal day but fell off the top on qual day. It was really windy and he had to make something like 10 wind calls -- didn't get all his wind dope good enough that day.
Sounds DAMN familiar. If I shot like I did on prequal day, I WOULD have broken the range record. The next day, the damn wind was up, and worse, it was gusting, not just a solid breeze. It didn't help knowing my Drill Instructors had made bets about me breaking the record. My only consolation for not breaking the record and barely scoring Expert is that there was also an almost record number of recruits who went UNQ (Unqualified). My Drill Instructors told me they had called off the bet due to conditions (but I didn't know that).

HOT DAMN! Shake that man's hand for me! CONGRATULATIONS to another Marine, another of the brotherhood who watch-out and take care of each other.

Semper Fi!

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

Sounds like the same sort of situation. Not sure if I got his terminology right about wind calls. He said that day wind in that valley was up, down, sideways, changing direction rapidly. He was happy just to qual at that point.

They were up there when the Sept fires were started on the range and had to get out early/one night less in the field. Add a little realism...

Would it be in good taste to say "Hooah" about now?
