What to do with a 48-star flag

Post by JAG2955 »

We've got a big one. I think it's 5'x8', maybe a size bigger. My mom's father used to buy one every time a new one came out because this company was local. Somewhere, we have a 49 star flag. Can't find it right now though. This one didn't cover a coffin or fly anywhere special. I'd like to do something special with it though. In a folded display, it looks too much like a 50 star flag. Any ideas? It's in good condition, and its made of a heavy cotton material.

Where is "home?" Where the family is or was? Do they have a local museum that would be appropriate? A short letter to document what and why of the flag would make it an interesting display.

I've got a 48 star flag passed down from dad. Nothing special about it's service -- just a relic from our family years living in the territory of AK. Strangely, the only of us 6 kids that was born in the State of AK wound up with it...

I'm from Annville, PA. There's no local museum, there's some in Hershey, but they're plenty wealthy with nicer ones, and if I gave it to Harrisburg, it would be auctioned off!

Maybe find a re-enacting or living history group that could use it?

Hang on to it.
There's always an outside chance Connecticut and Rhode Island will merge with Massachussetts, and there ya go.

I was gonna say, "It'll be useful once Texas & Alaska secede."

Make an art piece. Flag on the wall in a frame and then draggling off, stained creased and tarnished make two more bedraggled stars with the names of your least favorite states on them (IL and NY would be mine, though others would qualify if the flag had fewer stars).

Or California!
The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .
