You mean you pay good money to watch movies? Considering what Hollywood makes these days?

Of course people pay good money to watch movies.

It's just that most of those are found on DVD & Blueray disc, rather than at the local multiplex.

Just wAtched the movie. Conservatives need to get off the damned cross. It was a mediocre movie with a decent premise. Instantly forgettable. About as political as the cat in the hat.

Yeah, but whatthehell would they know about it?

Which proves that they're not only dicks, but that they so suck at their business that they couldn't make a good movie, nor even get their message across to Yogi.
"Are you ready to order?"
"Yes ma'am. We'll both have the Failburger, with some Extra Spicy Fail Sauce, the Pail of Fail Potatoes, a large glass of Diet Fail, and the Failberry pie for dessert.
Don't bother to bring us any utensils. Just put it in a large trough on the floor, and we'll root around and grind our faces into it all."
I'm laying odds the working title in pre-production was "Vomit", until some exec decided that was a little to spot-on, and the name got changed to "The Purge".

Uhh...the writer and director have both explicitly said it was.
They failed miserably.

1st they built a world where the constitution has been usurped, and that is the cause for conflict. Next, this movie is so pro-2nd amendment that it is funny. Basically the plot is that you are not safe regardless of your income unless you have a gun. Finally, the villains are college students, and they are hardly portrayed as conservative. More like militant trust fund babies. The twist bad guys are motivated by communist goals, wanting to tear down those who have more than them.

The only good guy is a military man.

Now tell me how this is an indictment of conservatives.

We'll be looking forward to your non-technical review (more like 'the man in the street' kinda' review).

I know you've told us before you're not a conservative. Now, I'm just curious, mind you, and not trying to start a fight, but how do you call yourself?

I'm going to guess, "stalwart defender of freedom by day; renegade bomb-thrower by night" :P
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

I am a "live and let live" social liberal, and a staunch believer in the constitution. I mistrust anyone in a position of authority, especially if that person uses that authority to be correct. An example of this is my distrust of those who like to toss the weight of the bible behind their policies, instead of arguing something on it's merits. I also feel quite strongly about personal responsibility.

It could be the director and others associated with the film had to say these things, as if you don't tow the political line in Hollywood, you suffer under a blacklist (when's the last time you saw John Voigt, Kelsey Gramar, or any other vocal conservative in a blockbuster Hollywood role?)
Still looks like a mostly crap film regardless of the political slant.
