I'm quite secure in my masculinity, thanks for asking. My ten-year-old daughter seems to like MLP:FiM and we watch it together.

Unlike the earlier iterations this one is not 100% retail toy sale disguised as entertainment.

Personally, I think rebooting was a terrible idea. There are some things that cannot be done twice. Now, you could do prequels - that explain where the characters came from. The problem being that this rather changes between the original series and the movies.

The other two options would be a post-quel (Keptin Pavel Chekov, anyone? ), or real prequels. The heroic Captain Pike, with Ensigns Kirk and Spock suitably clad in red shirts.
