You say Simon Pegg, but I see Alan Rickman being a better Master, though he could make either work.HTRN wrote:Actors who I'd love to see, but will never, EVER play the doctor.CByrneIV wrote:So, who will be the next Who?.
Simon Pegg(actually, for some strange reason, I think he'd make a better Master..)
Tim Curry.
Alan Rickman
Rowan Atkinson.. Waitaminute, he's already played the Doctor..![]()
What would be an interesting idea for the season, is somehow work it(poisoning, disease, etc) that he reverts back to his fourth incarnation, with each episode he "regenerates" until he hits his newest incarnation..
Why his 4th? Because Baker is currently the earliest version still living.

There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

Alton Brown would like the gig; too bad they're being exclusive.
Somehow I think he'd make a fun doctor. He's already got bowties and a fez...

Alan Rickman would be a natural for the Master.

I wouldn't watch a modern episode of Dr Who on pain of death, not now the Bolshevik Broadcasting Corporation turned it from a fun ( and clever ) low budget horror\sci-fi series into a thinly disguised vehicle for political correctness.
But if they went back to the old style of writing then I'd vote for Simon Pegg. For all I know he's just another liberal arsehole, but he's a good actor and perfect for the old style Doctor.
I'd like to see Quatermass back myself...

Give me a modern series\episode to watch, I'll do that - then get back to you and we'll compare notes.CByrneIV wrote:
Oh and I have no idea what you're talking about here... I've watched all of them, and I really don't see what you're talking about at all... It's no more liberal and politically correct than a lot of other shows, and WAY LESS than most SF shows... In fact, there's lots of politically INCORRECT stuff... people actually die, black folks can be bad guys etc...
I'm not averse to a reality check

Just glad they got rid of the Pond creature and her Beta Boy. Urgh.

I thought she was easy on the eye, but she couldn't act for toffee, and/or the role was badly written. I liked Ace (Sophie Aldred) myself... she pretty much saved the show despite the execrable Sylvester McCoy.Dub_James wrote:Just glad they got rid of the Pond creature...

I'll be honest, I'm not a huge Matt Smith fan. I prefer Ecclestone and Tennant. I like the edge of darkness and insanity they gave. Tennant played the loneliness, the cruelty and the vengeance under the cheerful charlie exterior. Ecclestone didn't even bother trying to hide the darkness. Smith... he's too goofy. Too cheerful... He's good, but he doesn't work as well for me... In his seasons, it's really the supporting characters who shine.
Agree in it's entirety. Just never warmed up to Smith. I've always been partial to Davidson myself.

He was OK, but couldn't fill Tom Baker's shoes. Oddly enough, his best acting ever was as another (medical) doctor in a sit-drama called ""a very peculiar practice". If you can find it, well worth watching.NVGdude wrote:I've always been partial to Davidson myself.
