Well, CC, it's probably just what you need and I hope Santa puts one in your stocking. For me, one word - "meh". At my relatively advanced age, I'm not likely to go traipsing out through the wilderness ala Red Dawn. I have an old-fashioned wind-up watch for telling time, a couple of good pocket knives (and a machete) and a full-sized axe, albeit not all on one golly-gee-whiz dodad. I can buy 1,000 bullets for the price of that ATAX Survival(?) Tool, (and I think I will).

The second comment wins the internets:

That thing looks too much like an ulu, aka the "women's knife" of the Eskimos.

They are really well thought out...I had a link to the designer's site and how to use all the features but I'll have to find it...
For what it's worth...I'd buy one and will probably do so in the future but I've got other blades that I want to get first...Everything I’ve read about them has been very positive although a couple of reviewers said that it did too much, over engineered, if that is bad...
TOPS is making them for the designer but any of the survival dealers in the list I had provided in Gear or the WIKI all carry them for substantially less money...

NPR every Inuit hunter I've ever been out on the ice with would disagree with you as they all carried an ulu with them for skinning although I will grant you that the final fleshing of the pelt was always done by the women...Netpackrat wrote:That thing looks too much like an ulu, aka the "women's knife" of the Eskimos.
For those not knowing what an ulu is, I've posted a picture of an Eastern Style and yes, the ATAK design was based upon them as they are the finest skinning knives ever designed...

looks like the answer to a question no one asked.

Nah. The question is "how do I punch a zombie in the forehead hard enough to reach his brain."mekender wrote:looks like the answer to a question no one asked.
Me, though, I'm all 'bout the Katar.

Oh... found something different!

Oh, I know that a real ulu in skilled hands is very efficient, I just have a difficult time seeing them as anything other than tourist junk shop trinkets.SeekHer wrote:For those not knowing what an ulu is, I've posted a picture of an Eastern Style and yes, the ATAK design was based upon them as they are the finest skinning knives ever designed...
