I just empty it with a funnel into the jug the oil came in or into an empty windshield washer fluid jug. If you drain it into the old oil jug be sure you mark it or keep it separate somehow from your new oil.
I had one of those in the cart, then took it out to buy the one I destroyed. After all, it was only a dollar more...
I have the closed top one. I did what you are talking about once. My mistake was NOT opening the air vent on the side. Otherwise my 11+ quarts were not an issue.
Well there was that one time the step son used it and didn't empty it, then helped me by sliding it in place under the truck. 11+ quarts from my truck plus 4 plus quarts from his truck plus scunge permanently stuck in it more than equaled the 15 quart capacity.
It was definitely an "only a pressure washer can fix this" event.

I would have been tempted to just leave the oil alone there; it helps keep the dust down.

I've never known the brand name - we just call 'em quick drains. I've had one on every truck I've driven for the past eight years. I did have one that started seeping from the ball valve, but it is no big deal to replace one. We used to dump in plastic five gallon buckets. Since C-15s hold eleven gallons, one must change buckets. Far easier to shut off the flow rather than try to move a full bucket and properly locate the empty under the stream without making a total mess. Now we use a shop built dump pan on caster wheels that holds about thirty gallons and has a connector to hook to our pump on our used oil tank.
I highly recommend these valves, as you may have guessed.
A gun is a tool, Marian; no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.

Sounds like you need to buy some disposable Tyvek suits.
I bet you wouldn't look this good in them, though.

Have that bathed and brought to my quarters.
What, the photo?
Remember, folks, you can't spell "douche" without "Che."
