A friend of mine (not the guy selling the Torkarev) is thinking about moving to Corpus Christi for work. He is hearing framing jobs are available due to the last hurricane.
Do any of our Texas members know if there is any truth to this. He's been framing and what not for twenty odd years, plus he's a Murican. Anybody know of a reputable builder who won't stiff him on his check?

Can't really help much -- I would think there's more work in E. TX/Beaumont/Galveston...

Don't know anyone in that area. But, I've been in the business for over 20 years, so I can offer some advice.
Tell him to call the local lumberyards (not a Home Depot or Lowes) and ask for some references of companies that are hiring. The lumberyards aren't going to recommend deadbeat or fly-by-night builders.
