Are you kidding? There is none of this "whimsy" of which you speak.

Re: Weird idea for shotgun shells
I am curious as to the possibilities of this idea. I think, if the light itself was properly molded over with lead, and 8 to 10 #1 shot behind it, the round would be an effective stopper, AND would allow the gun to be used as a flashlight.
I was thinking about adding a contact trigger to the side of the shell, that would activate when chambered. My only question is how bright of a bulb would you need out of an 18 inch barrel, and what manner of voltage would be needed to produce that light? I was thinking of using flat watch batteries, which would add to the mass of the thing as well.

Just a thought (which would require mod'ing the gun, thus making it easier to mount a flashlight, but what the well, this is WECSOG!), set up a power source, say batteries in the buttstock or pistol grip, and have power contacts in the chamber to power the light. Do you care if the light remains on once you've pull the trigger? That removes bulk from the round and allows for more payload/powder.

I was thinking of a drop-in self contained unit. Kind of a gimmick thing, that idiots would buy if you write "Tacktikal Zombie XXXtreme" on the side.randy wrote:Just a thought (which would require mod'ing the gun, thus making it easier to mount a flashlight, but what the well, this is WECSOG!), set up a power source, say batteries in the buttstock or pistol grip, and have power contacts in the chamber to power the light. I figured. Keep the battery in the buttstock idea for the next upgrade after the Tactikal Zombie XXXtreme lights have saturated the market.

If you went to a 10 gauge, you'd have more space to play with.

I don't know how much light you'd get from the bottom of the barrel, and of course you'd need a magazine full of them or you'd lose your light with the first shot.
Do-able? Probably. Practical/useful? Eh.

molded /battery/reflector/lamp/lens/ inside a cut down shot cup, roll crimped onto the lens? Switch in the base activated by depressing the lens onto the shot column behind it? Getting correct wad compression and length might be a bit of a trick.
