I love the old B movies, so here are a few recommendations:
Day of the Triffids - One of my all-time favorite movies, so camp that the camp is campy.
The Last Man on Earth - Vincent Price as the last non-zombie/vampire on earth. Hysteria ensues.
House on Haunted Hill - Another Vincent Price classic.
Forbidden Planet - needs to explanation
My wife also gave me the complete original Twilight Zone series on DVD last year, been working my way thru them. Some are great, some are creepy.
ETA: How can I forget Nosferatu, the original (silent) version with Max Shreck.

Island of Terror was pretty scary when I was 11.

"Event Horizon" makes me very uncomfortable. "Outland" is a classic. "Moon" was very good, but it was a slow building tension.

Triffids gave me nightmares as a kid. Heck, I've had one or two about them as an adult.
Loved the old Vincent Price movies. Last Man On Earth creeped me out as a kid. Basically an earlier version of Omega Man or Legion.
Hellraiser and its sequels made me quit watching such movies; heck, Clive Barker's novels made me quit reading such books. I've yet to see Event Horizon, I've heard it affects people strongly.

I saw Event Horizon in the movie theater, and I HATED it. I thought it would be scary, but it reminded me of a Stephen King quote where he said that he believed the highest emotion he could bring forth was to horrify, so that's what he tried to do. If he found he couldn't horrify, he tried to terrify. If he found he couldn't terrify, he wasn't proud, he'd go for the gross-out. Event Horizon COULD have been a horrifying movie, but instead it just went for the gross-out every time.Steamforger wrote:"Event Horizon" makes me very uncomfortable. "Outland" is a classic. I was 24 years old when I saw Event Horizon. Watched it alone on VHS...at night...when I lived in a very remote part of the country. Yeah, I slept with my .357 on the nightstand and had to watch the last 30 minutes the next morning. Brrr...

There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

Original black and white Night of the Living Dead. That movie scared me so much I was afraid to go to the bathroom at the drive in by myself. This right after a tour in Viet Nam in the infantry.
