Looking for a song
Was out at a bar the other night and they had a small band playing music. One of the songs was an irish ballad of some kind, a sailing song. Unfortunately I don't remember too many words, and google is failing me. One of the lines was something like "Eat and be merry and drink all your pay, tomorrow we'll be a 100 miles away"......anybody heard something like that before?

Hmmm, an Irish sea shanty about drinking. Looking for a needle in a stack of needles, eh?

You could certainly say that. Should have asked the guys, but they were a cover band it seemed, so I figured anything they were singing would be easy to turn upSteamforger wrote:Hmmm, an Irish sea shanty about drinking. Looking for a needle in a stack of needles, eh?

Hell, I'm not familiar with anything with those lyrics, and I'm an Irish folk music nut. Maybe it's something original by this band. Who are they?

Haven't found anything too specific (YET), but I DID turn up this on Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Irish_ballads Perhaps you'll find what you're looking for there?JKosprey wrote:Was out at a bar the other night and they had a small band playing music. POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

That's the one, Chris! Thank you!
Edit: seems to be tough to find, there's a much more popular song that shares the same title
