It's American made, military quality, and prices/delivery times are good

Sometimes you can find good prices on e-bay, but it's a serious case of caveat emptor.

I've made emergency kits for all the kids and their significant others to stash in their vehicles, and each one contains (among other things) a 50-foot length of paracord. And all the grandkids have paracord bracelets (at least one, some have several) that I've made for them.

A lot of the stuff sold as 550 is NOT mil-spec 550 cord. You have to be careful where you order it.

It's as standardized as the source makes it. If the source figures that it's going into bracelets and keyfobs (and the risk of lawsuits because of failure is small) it's not very standardized. I've seen some that wouldn't hold ME, and I weigh 150 lbs., but it was sold as 550 cord.

I usually look for the seller to explicitly state "7 strands."
