When you get the gun, you will see a screw in the back of the receiver, above the grip. Leave that screw alone. I took it apart once, and the damned thing launched innards all over the room.

Re: Airguns for practice
So-called cheap airpistols are usually not worth the money. This is not cheap, but mine was worth every cent - it shoots better than I can, so it is a viable training aid. Baikal 46M.
This Beeman is a rebadged Weihrauch 70. Pretty good, but the sights are its weakness. I kept my HW70 to use for teaching beginners, and upgraded to the Baikal. If I were buying from scratch, I'd spend the extra on the Baikal.
Be sure to get or build yourself a decent pellet trap. A cardboard box filled with old telephone books will do, or a tray full of glazier's putty, or one of these.
For an excellent air rifle for not much money at all, consider this:

Read all six parts...
http://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/Tech_Forc ... Stock/2328
Those are basically the same rifle, Pyramyd Air used also to carry the TF79 Target version, but they seem to be out of them. (No worries;-as Col. Cooper used to say, I've got mine...) The thumbhole stock version is the same rifle, just with sportier woodwork.

Mr Archer specialises in that same air rifle platform (just selling it under a different brandname), and he will also supply tuned-up ones, variations and loads of accessories. Watch his videos online.
If you want the EBR look, get yourself a Baikal for a bit less $:

http://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/IZH_60_Air_Rifle/75
If you go for the multi-shot version, you absolutely must also order a few spare pellet carriers / clips, as if (when) you lose the carrier the rifle is mostly useless.

I have a replica of my CZ(non blowback) that I use for draw practice. What ever pistols I get after this I'll likely get blowback versions of for similar use. At those ranges they are more than accurate enough. You may have to search some airsoft forums to see what has a decent trigger.
My Anics Skiff uses a Belt inside a long magazine which loads into the pistol like a normal magazine. It does operate like a giant oval rotary, but holds 28 rounds. As Yogi stated, it makes the trigger suck. You can fire it single action which helps a bit, but mostly it's a toy.Highspeed wrote:Air pistols which look like semi-auto handguns actually operate like a double action revolver using a fiddly little rotary magazine that takes something like 8 pellets.

I actually have a soft spot for the Crosman 1377 and 1322's - had them when I was a kid. They are a little crude compared to some of the newer stuff but that price looks difficult to beat.

I just want to take a moment to say, curse Glock. I would really love to have an airsoft gun that replicates my carry gun, and Glock will not authorize any airsoft replicas.Highspeed wrote:Blowback airsoft pistols have realistic mag capacities, operate like the real handgun they imitate and have recoil ( kind of )

I had one, made in Taiwan I believe. I don't think a company can do anything about airsoft clones of their guns unless the trademarks are reproduced as well.Netpackrat wrote: I just want to take a moment to say, curse Glock. There are plenty to be had. They simply lack the Glock markings.Netpackrat wrote:I would really love to have an airsoft gun that replicates my carry gun, and Glock will not authorize any airsoft replicas.

Yes. Junk plinkers with crappy triggers will teach you a load of bad habits. A good air pistol will whet your skills razor-sharp. And the Izh-46 is considered a Best Buy in the market. About 75% of the capability of a high-end gun, but at 25% of the cost.Denis wrote:So-called cheap airpistols are usually not worth the money. Me? I've got a 10 meter air pistol range laid out in my house...and a Steyr LP10.

Re: Airguns for practice
I don't care about the markings. I seem to recall that I tried ordering from several of those places last year, and their shipping options were not acceptable. I also didn't see anything in a 10mm/.45 frame size, with the exception of a Glock like model from Umarex. I used one of those that belonged to somebody else, and I thought it was a piece of crap, and had this frame mounted "safety" that was engaged by the act of drawing, which was lame.TheIrishman wrote:There are plenty to be had. But yeah, thanks for the link. I need to get something fairly soon, because I am taking a class in May that requires Airsoft gear.
