Brand new Corvette C7

Post by bubblewhip »

So this is the car we're going to get a good look at on magazines and roads for the next 10 years.

I have to say, I think it looks good but I'm not totally sure if is speaks corvette. It looks like someone merged the old Dodge Viper front with a Lamborghini Gallardo Rear with a touch of Camaro. But it certainly makes the corvette look more like a super car than in years past.

The power train is a standard 6.2L V8 that has 450 BHP and 450 lb of torque while getting 16/26 MPG (Who said push-rods are obsolete?), going through a 7 speed manual gearbox with rev matching like in the 350z. Magnetic ride control is standard, and they say they are finally fixing the interior and seats.

Base price starts at $50 000

Video

Maybe... Just maybe... this is the Corvette that can hold up to the 911 at more than just a race track.

What do you think about the current mid-life crisis item for the next 10 years?

Is that better than buying them from Nazis? Or Xenophobic fanatical rapists?

Edit: either of which is probably better than buying British.

+1000 I've NEVER cared for Vettes, they just seemed kind of slapped together. This one seems more unreal than past versions. Overall rating from 1 to 10, I give it a meh.

Yes, it is better to buy from the Germans or the Brits than the Comunists - if you lack any ideals, simply so that people will talk to you in the South/Texas - ESP. Texas.

I rather like the looks of it, mostly... the rear end is ugly, though, don't care for the tail lights treatment at all.

PS Does it deserve to be called "Sting Ray"?

I'm sure mechanically it's a marvel.

But looks? It's part Viper, part wannabe Ferrari, part... dare I say it.... Toyota Celica- the last one before they killed it.
