Shoe/boot size

Post by cageym »

Being in Diego Garcia I have limited acces to footwear, and the stuff at the store is ordered by the Filipinos that run it so getting anything close to my size on island is not going to happen. I need a pair of travelling boots, ones to wear in transit and during the stops on the way, and I was looking at side zip tacticals, due to the ease of on and off and utility during my trips, maybe 5 or 6 inches I don't think I need 8 inch boots.. My issue is the size. I order New Balance shoes to wear at work and have to wear 4EEEE but I got access to a Brannock device (the thing in the shoe store that measures your feet.LOL) and it is more like just over into the wide. I don't want to spend a lot of money on boots that I have to send back so any guidance you can give me on true to size boots would help. If y'all aren't the smartest people I know you are certainly the best source of knowledge that I know of. Any ideas?

I wear an EEE size 11. For light boots, I find Bates to be a good solution and true to size. In fact, my work boots right now are these: http://www.amazon.com/Bates-Mens-Delta- ... ewpoints=1 They are pretty well made... not so well as Danner or Red Wings. But they are extremely light and comfortable. They feel almost like wearing very high top athletic shoes.

I move to an older pair of Irish Setters when it gets cold.

I wore Bates when I was still in and I never had issues with them. Those aren't side zips though. I know I could add the thing to the front if I had to.

I have a pair of Bates side zipped composite toe Gortex in 6" for work. Love them

Seem to be, based on a sample size of 1. I picked 13 Med off the rack based on previous footwear purchases and they fit fine.

I went browsing around the Bates site and thought I would give these a try. I'll let y'all know how they look and fit when they show up.

Boots got here the other day. Thay are true to fit, at least for my feet. They appear to be well enough made. My left foot is just a little wider than my right, not enough to go bigger on size just enough to need the boot to relax a bit. I'm wearing them at work right now for a 12 hour shift to help break them in. One complaint is the laces are to short to lace up quite all the way, I've already ordered replacements.
