Movie: BATTLESHIP

Post by 308Mike »

This movie, BATTLESHIP, has some promising screenshots, and from some of the comments I've read, it's CERTAINLY NOT your normal SciFi alien-encounter movie.

I have a sneaky feeling there are quite a few folks from this forum who've seen this movie. Is anyone willing to provide a review???

I've notice the movie in my local movie line-up down the street at the local video-rental store.

Is it worth a couple of bucks to view this thing, or should I save my money and find something else to watch????

ANY feedback would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

I think it's worth seeing, once.
Some of the plot elements really strain your "suspension of disbelief."
Lots of cool action scenes. Plenty of heroism to go around.

Yeah, see it once.

Did you rent it or see it in the theater?

Saw it in the theater, then went and bought it in BlueRay.

(But, I'm only planning on seeing it "once.")

Just so's you know, I grabbed it from the rental kiosk down the street and have been catching little bits here and there while doing shiite around the house. Some of the stuff I've seen and heard have made me want to buy the movie, but some of the other crap at the beginning makes me want to shiite-can the movie.

Things like the tomahawks taking out the alien craft make me love it.

I'm still watching it so my opinions may change as more or less crap is splayed across the screen! LOL!! ;)

I thought it was pretty good myself... My understanding is that some of the old timers at the end were the actual vets that served on the BBs and give tours of them. So they actually did show the actors how to use some of the equipment in real life.

Apparently the Missouri was actually taken out to sea for a couple of days to shoot the film.

Saw it in theaters. Suspend disbelief. Enjoy campiness.

I worked on this movie with my friend (who is also my boss). We provide items for the prop departments. I found and downloaded the complete turret operations manual (over 700 pages downloaded one page at a time as they were stored as jpeg scans), and my boss found the dummy shells and powder bags at (if my faulty memory serves me) the USS North Carolina memorial. They were nice enough to let us borrow a few for the movie. Very minor involvement, but fun to mention.

The movie is 100% cheese. Delicious cheese.

(A ww2 era battleship going from a static display to full combat ready in 10 minutes, with a crew of 12? the deuce?)

Overall, it is a great horrible movie.

It's based off the game! How can it not be great?
