Movies Which are Difficult to Find

Post by 308Mike »

For a long time I had a difficult time trying to find a good copy of the movie, Heavy Metal (the original) - they said it would take a long time 'cause all the different bands involved and two motion picture studios, but yet they pulled it off.

The current movie I've been trying to locate has nothing of that level of musical creativity or cult following. The one I'd like to get is called The Final Option, and it's about the siege of the Iranian Embassy (the movie makes it out to be the American Embassy) in Britain in the early 1980's, the siege which was broken by the SAS in a daring raid on the embassy.

I've seen a variety of covers (and names) for the movie, this one is from the entry for IMDB:

The movie stars Lewis Collins (who apparently passed SAS Selection and was a working member of 22 SAS for a while), and Judy Davis with Richard Widmark.

I seriously doubt the studio has put the movie out on Blue-Ray, so I'd be happy to just get a GOOD copy from the studios on a DVD. The few places I've found on the Internet have been out of it and have no idea if they'll ever get it in again.

And I have NO desire to pay several hundred dollars for a copy either (besides that, I can't afford it since I'm still unemployed).

Any lucky locating a studio DVD copy would be greatly appreciated. I wouldn't doubt that I'm the only person having trouble locating good copies of movies they've enjoyed. Does anyone know of a hard-to-find movie repository that doesn't cost an ARM+LEG????

ANY good info would be MUCH appreciated!!!

I'm not a movie person so I don't know anything about distribution, royalties, libraries, etc., so I assume you have tried NetFlicks?

Final Option is on Netflix streaming.

I might actually have that somewhere in the archive. It's not a bad film IMHO

No, I didn't know that site existed, so THANKS!!

Regarding the other suggestions regarding Netflicks, I don't have anything to record it in a suitable manner for playback at a MUCH later date. So, for me, the BEST media for getting a copy of the movie is going to be on disk, rather than a streaming copy and recorded to a HDD or other non-removable media.

I SERIOUSLY DOUBT the studios have decided to put that particular movie onto Blue-Ray, so for the time being, DVD is likely going to be the best thing going for the hard-to-find movie now.

Thanks TOM (However with my luck, I'll probably call them to order it over the phone and they'll tell me they're currently OUT OF STOCK of that movie right now)!

One movie I had real hard time time finding was Exposure, staring Peter Coyote, Amanda Pays Techky Karyo. Was a real good movie for knife enthusiasts. Was surprised to see some things one screened that I was taught.

Happened to see it on Netflix while browsing through titles.

Found it for you Mike, just have to figure out how to get it to you.

It's an .avi file rather than a DVD but it's close to a gig in size so I can't email it.

I don't have ready access to an FTP server right now. I'll have to ask around to see who might let me use their's, providing they have enough available HDD space.
