YUP, since I'm not skilled with the straight razor, I have make sure I have plenty of time so I don't get in a rush and cut myself. At least once you get one and can keep it sharp, you don't need to buy replacement blades on a regular basis.

schick extreme 3 in shower with plain soap, Edge gel if I let it go a few days, against the grain, 3 minutes. No fuss no muss.

don't like the gillette sensor 3

Never could find a decent electric. All could do a so-so job as long as it wasn't the least bit humid.

Am I the only one that uses Russian blades?

I just bought a couple of double edge safety razors for myself and my son. Purely out of financial need. Trying to buy replacement blades for two Gillette Fusions was too damned expensive. It makes a lot more sense to buy the DE with a year's worth of Derby premium blades for a fraction of the cost. I started out with a DE razor so many years ago, but got caught up in the multi-blade stuff especially after joining the Navy. They didn't like sailors to have access to sharp things. Makes the officers nervous or something.

I'm looking forward to trying the Feather blades as well.

You'd be surprised how many of the "Domestic" brands are made there. The Gillette 7'oclocks all seem to have been made in Russia. Astra blades are made there as well.
HTRN, I would tell you that you are an evil fucker, but you probably get that a lot ~ Netpackrat

I've had good success with those blades, too.

I posted what may be years ago here that I couldn't shave with anything but an electric. Anything else made me get a bloody rash all over my neck. And I followed what EVERYONE told me.

Suddenly, about 3 weeks ago, I decided to pick up a disposable razor and a bar of soap and try it, and wow - it was the closest shave I've ever had. So I bought a nicer razor with disposable blades, and some actual shaving gel. I dunno - maybe just getting older has toughened my face, or made my hair change or something.
And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

If you've got a safety razor the best thing you can do is to get a sample pack of blades.
