The place for general talk about gun, shooting, loading, camping, survival, and preparedness related tools and gear, as well as gear technology discussion, gear reviews, and gear specific "range reports" (all other types of gear should be on the back porch).

This stuff would NOT go to waste. After all, it's FAR better to have stuff you don't need than to need stuff you don't have
Most of the EMT's I know(all 3 of them) keep a kit like that in their car already, everyone carrying something like this would give them more stethoscopes and blood pressure cuffs then they would ever need. Then there is the issue of them having to search through YOUR kit to find what they need. The trauma kit alone is very simple and can treat serious wounds. Having a trauma kit in a murse along with the wife carrying one(maybe throw a few in a diaper bag if you carry one) should cover you. That would be on top of epi-pens(if you or the kids have allergies), sun screen/bug spray and such if needed. At least that should cover you in the scenarios Aglifter was basing this on. Made a wrong turn in Mogadishu? Probably not. Stabbed by a violent fan at a Phish concert? Sure.
For the record, I keep 2 of the ETA trauma kits in a first aid kit similar to this(though a bit smaller) next to my range bag. When you open the bag, they are right on top. Depending on where I'm going, and how I'm dressed, I'll pull one out and stuff it in a pocket or bag I may be carrying.

Agreed. Mission dictates gear, and I'm not certain how this is different requirement than a GHB, unless it's supposed to be a lighter weight kit. The AR57 pistol is very interesting, but I'm not sure how it would be better than a 5.56 pistol, except it would probably suppress better.

Those are good observations. Mission does dictate gear. In my case, I have what I posted for two scenarios:
1) Get back to the car. My car has three gallons of water and two USMC issue assault packs; one filled with survival gear, and the other filled with medical gear. I also have two small crates. One of those is filled with MREs, granola bars, canned fruit, and so on. The other is filled with maps and car repair stuff.
2) The car is no longer a viable option (collapsed under a parking garage, in the middle of a riot, etc.). In that case, my school-style backpack gets me to a place where I can hunker down, treat injuries, put some food in my belly, and assess the situation in Code Yellow instead of Code Red.
And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

Have you considered splitting the gear equally between the two packs?
If you're by yourself, you probably won't be able to carry both, especially if carrying a long gun, helping with a stretcher, etc.
If you have another person with you, you can hand one off to them and if you get split up later you're not stuck with either all survival gear (when you run across a medical emergency) or all medical gear (if caught in cold damp conditions with no food or shelter).
If you get to car and then it becomes no longer viable, then you only need to grab one of the packs and go without trying to decide which set you need most.

Add a cheap poncho or if you're of larger stature you may need to consider a poncho designed for a pack underneath.. Poncho can be used for other purposes as well.

A poncho has LOTS of other uses, especially in the area of critical water-gathering.
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

Out of a 7.5" barrel, I believe the 5.7 has considerably more velocity than the 223 - possibly out of the 10.5" as well. (Now, if you could figure out how to load a 223 for a short barrel, I'm sure it would be great - no replacement for displacement, etc - but most 223 ammo is meant for a longer barrel.)
And, it ejects out of the bottom, which means its easy to install a brass catcher - which is of no real purpose, unless you don't like leaving a trail of bread (brass) crumbs...

Believe i or not, it doesn't. I had to check though. Not even close when it comes to the 10.5"
.223 @ 10"-2616 fps
@7"-2199
5.7x28mm out of a P90, which I believe is a 10" barrel-SS195LF-2350 fps, and SS197SR-1950 fps
I'm not saying that it's a bad idea, but for the price of an AR lower, nice stock, and then the AR57 upper, I'd rather buy a PS90, then get a tax stamp to SBR it. I do think that either would be a nice choice for a civil unrest scenario.
I've got several layers of this and run them in my cars, work and house. Plus the ones I take when I travel overseas. Nothing worse than getting caught in a coup or having to avoid Shining Path terrorists while in downtown Lima. As of late I have been in more 3rd world countries than 1st...
I'll post pics and load outs when I get a moment.
