Ben,

Thanks for the link.

Mr. Thompson speaks the truth. Let's hope enough people hear and listen.

I think Fred was his own problem. He didn't seem able to get a fire burning that a sucessful candidate needs.

There was a LOT more to it than that, the media also had him in the tank and were ignoring him. The only press he could get was if he purchased it - while they were slobbering all over BO, Hitlery, and Juan McClown.

That is true Mike, but when there is no room at the bar you go sideways and then thrust your elbows out and make some room.
Maybe I am just pissed. The man had a core of diehard followers to just let his campaign fizzle out like it did.

I know, I was one of them.

for some reason he was just unmotivated...

hell his most lively speech was at the RNC when he was talking about McCain

What I liked about the guy was that he seemed like he didn't want it. Those that lust for power should normally be kept as far from it as possible.

Isn't he friends with McCain. Maybe he was just in it for the 3rd party effect. Sucking votes away from the other guys. Never really can tell what a politician is up to, other than the fact that it is usually not what they claim to be up to.

McCain and Thompson were friends in the Senate although not always in agreement with each other.

Even though he had already dropped from the race, I still voted for Thompson in the primaries.

Me too. Even though he officially dorpped out he was still the best that the republicans fielded this go around...by a long shot. Instead we got stuck with McCain.

This race shouldn't even be close. On one hand we have the most liberal senator in the senate...even more liberal than the avowed socialist senator (Bernie Sanders)...a man who has a history of taking the far left side of ever issue he has confronted. A man who has no record to be used against him to speak of because he hasn't been around long enough to create much of a record and he hasn't done anything in the time that he has been around. His appalling choice of friends and mentors (mostly thrown under the bus after being uncovered) would preclude him from virtually any job that would require a background check. This is the guy who is beating a war hero who spent more time in a North Vietnamese prison camp than he has spent in the US senate. This guy is beating one of the most moderate/centrist/democrat republicans that the republican party has ever run for president...a man who really has spent the majority of his time in office reaching across the aisle (or as we conservatives like to say - sleeping with the enemy). This race should have never been close...not at all. For those who doubt the power of the media in this country it will all become completely clear tomorrow evening and you should never doubt it again.
