Of the net for a while this weekend

Post by randy »

Annual Field Day.

Set up amateur radio station away from normal locations, operate without commercial power and see how many contacts we can make in 24 hours.

Sort of like bare base deployment exercise.

Oh, and there is usually food and BS sessions going on as well.

Hence, I will be scarce this weekend

I'm not as much into the contest aspects as in setting up my emergency gear to test it and figuring out new ways to get stuff working and get on the air.

So if you notice antennas, radios, batteries, generators popping up in a park or camping area near you, stop on by and check it out. Part of the idea is to operate where the general public can see us and get a demonstration of amateur radio.

...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

Had plans to set up a 2 person, solar powered station with a friend. Got superceded with a surprise birthday party in Phoenix. So house repairs and pre-sale prep work, then party.

THANKS for the heads-up Randy, so if I see any of these folks setup around where I'm going, I'll be sure to makes some comments and thank them for their time to ensure those of us without microphones can still make communications in the event of an emergency.

THANK YOU!!!
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad
