I know some of ya'll like Maglights for the head-busting qualities, so if you are going to upgrade your existing Maglights with the new 120 lumen Terralux LED inserts for Maglights, LED ,
you might as well add one of these new "glass breakers" to your Mags, too: Link
Can you say "OUCH"?

"Life is a bitch. Shit happens. Adapt, improvise, and overcome. Acknowledge it, and move on."
Now THAT'S really handy, especially for LEOs and other rescue workers/first responders. You no longer have to carry and automatic center-punch to bust out windows at a vehicle accident or if some child is locked inside a car on a hot day & the windows are all rolled up (and you're having a hard time getting the Slim-Jim to open the door).
Although I could count on both hands the number of times I probably would have used it in over 15 years, it would have been a REAL time-saver, make breaking out a window MUCH easier (at accident scenes to get access to the passengers to tell the medic what we're facing before they arrive) and in other circumstances, a life-saver (after authorizing the breaking of a car's window to get an infant out of a hot car).
Since it only replaces the cap, I think I'm going to order a couple anyway just to be on the safe side since I usually have at least one of those flashlights with me when I'm out and about in the car.
THANKS for the heads-up!! MUCH appreciated!!

Screwing a steel cap into the aluminum body of the maglite could cause some corrosion problems, especially since the threads complete the circuit from the negative terminal of the battery.
It would be better if they made it an aluminum cap with a tungsten carbide insert.
"If at first you don't succeed, that's one data point." XKCD
That cap costs more than I spent buying my flashlight in the first place. You could probably put a small amount of dielectric grease on the threads to deal with the corrosion issues.

You mean like this? I've got their LED conversion on the 4-D Cell Maglite that lives in my truck, and keep meaning to get one of these and a strike bezel from them as well.
ETA: And they're having a sale on their Maglite conversion units, 43% off.

Maybe there's a piece of zinc inside the cap to be sacrificed.

I doubt it as that would require maintenance and I for one occasionally ruin flashlights due to forgetting to rotate batteries I can barely imagine having to rotate sacrificial metal nodes. YIKES.

Thanks, I've been meaning to replace my [strike]corroded battery[/strike] user error killed Maglite and this fits the bill 260 LUMENS. I like.
eta thanks

No problem. I figure if I point business their way, they'll still be around when I finally remember to order that glass breaker.

Oh, these are Malkoff devices. He's been around making his flashlight upgrade devices a few years, IIRC 4-5 or so, and his business still seems to be expanding. I have one of his early devices, the emitter is older tech so it's not as bright, but it's pretty much a plug of machined copper and it's amazing. He used to make them himself and could never keep up with demand. Now he seems to have found some manufacturing help and switched to aluminum. (Due to the nature of the Maglight design, his device needs to be a large thermally conductive object because it needs to be a heat sink as well as a heat bridge from the emitter to the body of the light.) So now his devices are both brighter and cheaper, cool.

I like the product, easy to install; but what really got me was the personalized note from his wife thanking me for the business. SO uncommon in today's market.
