Re: I Hate Glocks
I guess I have no taste - like both Glocks and 1911s. But I also like the Nagant M1895. It, too, goes bang. I like that.
A gun is a tool, Marian; no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.

Re: I Hate Glocks
Never had a Glock, never shot a Glock - I have no opinion of Glock handguns (which is why I have nothing useful to say in any of these arguments), and I won't until I actually use/fire one. EVERYONE else should do the same. Form YOUR OWN damned opinion!!

Fired:
Odds are good, if its a modern pistol, I've shot it.
Competed with:
2011 Limited Gun - excellent, but the example I had wasn't built correctly
2011 Open Gun - most reliable/most frequently shot gun I own. For whatever reason, I have to use a soft grip on it. I'm sure there's a structural deficiency in my grip, but if I "lock down" on it, I lose the dot.
Double-Stack Para - reliable, love the grip, but some issues keeping my shots tight at speed
Sig - crap, Bruce Gray did a heck of a job on it, but fundamentally a poor platform
Glock - fine, but cut my hand in the small frames. Large frames are OK
1911 - fastest platform, for me, into action, but I start to struggle w. the smallness of the grip after the 5th round fired in a string. Again, at times I can start to lose the index a bit.
S&W Revolvers - only shot a few matches with them - doubt I have over 2K rounds through them - and only a few hundred through my 329NG.
XD Tactical - decent, slippery - needs some kind of grip aid - I used Brooks Tactical Agrip.
XDm - good, a bit small. Never shot it much w.o. the Agrip on it. Easy to run, I don't seem to be consistent with it, but some of that could be that I only have about 3K through them, and I keep trying to run it like my open gun, at times. I think that can be part of the problem w. my Para and 1911 as well.

I LOVE my SIG!! AWESOME gun and NO SAFETIES!! It has a great hammer-drop mechanism (besides pulling the trigger)!!Kommander wrote:What was wrong with the Sig and when was it made?
It NEVER jams, never had a FTF or FTE - it works almost as reliably as a revolver, except my wife was able to get it to jam by severe limp-wristing it (I thought she was going to drop it but didn't - afterwards, she had no problems with it but she fully understood what limp-wristing a semi-auto will do).

Re: I Hate Glocks
The Sig was rendered inoperable by a, very small, piece of lint on top of the hammer. The hammer got cocked back twice, while holstered, it consistently chewed hole in carry garments, and the stock mag floor plates are prone to cracking. All of those are relatively minor, aside from the ease of being rendered inoperable.
The trigger, even after considerable alteration by Bruce Gray, is inferior to both tuned CZ and a tuned 92 platforms, and it is, inherently less accurate than a 1911*, and I believe, an accursed CZ - possibly the 92 as well. - *That is the opinion of Bruce Gray - a well-respected tuner of Sigs, although he has succeeded in getting a X5 accurate enough for the Bianchi cup - and he was quite proud of it, given this post on the Sig forum.

Re: I Hate Glocks
Interesting. I carry a 229 every day both at work and as a CCW. The only problem I have had is with the hammer getting cocked once or twice.
