Want to buy an old friend a meaningful gift

The place for general talk about gun, shooting, loading, camping, survival, and preparedness related tools and gear, as well as gear technology discussion, gear reviews, and gear specific "range reports" (all other types of gear should be on the back porch).

Ooo I like this idea
My brother has a jewelry store here in San Diego and carries a LOT of watches (I'm NOT a big fan of jewelry or I'd be working there too). He can probably order anything you want, and since it would be a referral from me (and I could give him a heads-up before you called so he'd believe you), you'd get it with a minimum of markup (mostly to cover his costs and a few cents for profit).

If that's the route you want to go, just let me know.

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

I also think that sounds like a good gift - at least, it sound like the kind of gift I would be happy to get.

Concur with the watch recommendation. A capital idea.

Hrm...

I want to give him a gift that represents me, not something that he might want. Its a strange concept that I have trouble verbalizing.

Custom bobblehead made in your image?
A gun is a tool, Marian; no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.

Trimming the boys by Enya may be your permanent trade mark.

Chris's idea around the watch seems appropriate and usefull.
