Its not a problem at the plant - there are only a few employees, and the clock is visible from my office. It may not be one at the stores, we don't know. Hands shouldn't really be dirty in any of our operations.
The vendor does have a odd system for dirty hands, which involves a 3D map of hands, but I really don't see that as a problem.
Other than cuts, we shouldn't have much of a problem.

A previous employer had hand scanners for clocking in or out. You had to punch a code, then scan your hand. There were several of us whose hands it just couldn't get a good read from, and we had to be set up special. Eventually we figured out that it had been set up so that when one of our codes was entered, the scanner was overriden, and it was just looking for something where the hand should be. Hilarity ensued.

If we went to a biometric login, our users would start forgetting their fingertips & eyeballs at home. I'm convinced to the point that if I believed that I have an immortal soul, I would wager it on this.

Oh JEEZ!!! Knowing aircraft mechanics (which aren't much better than car mechanics and/or cops - or even military people), I can only imagine all the things put on the scanner when asked for **something** to scan (especially if they knew some attractive female was coming in soon to clock in).Netpackrat wrote:A previous employer had hand scanners for clocking in or out. POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad
