I learned that if you double stake the tent and triple tie the corners, and the tent is still standing, you don't tempt mother nature with the comment "it couldn't get any worse."
We had a bit of a blow at the Western National Shoot on Monday. Everything did just fine. On Friday we had 70+mph winds. At least 5 tents were tornup and destroyed. It was bad enough that we made national news.

Today I learned you've never used an apartment complex laundry room. There's etiquette for just that situation, and it involves the laundry being "stored" in the dryer being evicted and left, um, homeless. And the homeless tend to be very dirty.Cybrludite wrote:Today I relearned that one of my housemates is unclear on the difference between a dryer & a dresser.

A couple more:
The cheaper the car part that needs to be replaced, the more labor intensive it is to get at. (Learned when the rear engine seal on my Mustang went and started leaking oil, part was about $10, cost $400 to get at).
The difference between something that can break and something that can't possibly break is that when something that can't possibly break does break it's impossible to get at to repair.
There are people whose main function at work is to work. There are other people whose main function at work is to network. There are also some people at work whose main function is to be decorative.
Companies can spend a lot of time, money and resources on things that aren't at all related to the business by which they make money.
Finally, one of my personal favorites:
If it's stupid, and it works, it's not stupid.

If it's stupid and it works, you're not trying hard enough to get the procedures changed. (I hate people sometimes.)MarkD wrote: If it's stupid, and it works, it's not stupid.

Oh yeah! I personally think the differences between the genders are one of God's better ideas, and I love my wife to distraction, but sometimes I still find myself saying "Where the f**k did THAT come from?"Weetabix wrote:Women aren't like men.*

But the person who's clothes would be evicted in this case a) would know who did it, b) has 24/7 access to my stuff, and c) possesses an engineer's sense of humor.Greg wrote:Today I learned you've never used an apartment complex laundry room. And what are you, chopped liver? So you're going to let your housemate be a dick and not do anything about it because you're intimidated by what he *might* do? If you want to teach a more gentle lesson, dump the laundry from the dryer onto the floor of his room.Cybrludite wrote:But the person who's clothes would be evicted in this case a) would know who did it, b) has 24/7 access to my stuff, and c) possesses an engineer's sense of humor.Greg wrote:Today I learned you've never used an apartment complex laundry room. Pack it all really tight into a pillow case and put it on his bed when you need the dryer. "Hey, [strike]dickhead[/strike] housemate - I needed the dryer so I put your stuff on your bed."Cybrludite wrote:But the person who's clothes would be evicted in this case a) would know who did it, b) has 24/7 access to my stuff, and c) possesses an engineer's sense of humor.Greg wrote:Today I learned you've never used an apartment complex laundry room.
