Help me find an EDC backpack

The place for general talk about gun, shooting, loading, camping, survival, and preparedness related tools and gear, as well as gear technology discussion, gear reviews, and gear specific "range reports" (all other types of gear should be on the back porch).

How about this one?

This looks like a mix

These camera bags are cool. They have a ton of options.

Some unusual and concept bags.

Batmans bag?

One of these turnsinto a boat. That could be handy.

And a few useful and a few stupid ones.

Who knew the internet was so big?

I kind of liked the NG rucksack and the one that has the plastic ass formed into the back. The Saddleback briefcase looks epic.

My quest continues... :D

Actually... The same site allows you to make a custom bag.

The accelerating decomposition of my current day pack increased my sense of urgency.

I found a local store with the Camelbak Urban Transport. IIRC, they review it and the urban assault together because the Transport is the newer model of that same line?

Anyway, after handling the Urban Transport, I decided it didn't have enough pockets, and it still looked too military. The only one they had was desert tan or coyote brown or sandy mist or whatever you call that color.

I went with the 5.11 Covert 18. The guy at the store said they never get any of them back for defect/durability issues, and the 5.11 was $50 less than the Camelbak. I'm hoping that my parsimony won't have led me into the penny wise, pound foolish category. Time will tell, and if it breaks down, I'll come back and let you guys know.

Thanks for all the input. I wouldn't have thought of half of the places to look that you guys suggested without the pointers.

I actually have a rip off of their GTG, I think. It's pretty convenient. I use it to corral my [strike]junk[/strike] er... gear on road trips and such.

I don't carry off-body, though, so that bag and the EDC pack are just for carrying too many convenience items around.

Two months in, and the 5.11 Covert 18 is wearing well.

It rides more comfortably with a heavier load than other packs I've had. Plenty of pockets. I tend to find things that I'd forgotten I put in there.

The top "sunglasses" pocket is bigger than most, so I keep small convenience things there.

All in all, I'm happy with it.

Time will tell on the durability, but I've flown with it and abused it more since I've had it than I did with my old one, and it still looks good.
