The place for general talk about gun, shooting, loading, camping, survival, and preparedness related tools and gear, as well as gear technology discussion, gear reviews, and gear specific "range reports" (all other types of gear should be on the back porch).
This pack is pretty good, but appears a little pricey. If you can find the manufacturer, you can no doubt find it cheaper somewhere else. If I got it, I'd probably take off the NRA tag so others won't be quite so eager to help it grow legs and run away:
After looking around at some other packs, it appears this situation is another of those: "You get what you pay for!"
I have a VERY OLD expensive climbing pack which has held up through all the hell I put it through, and the only problem I ever had was when I blew out the main zipper (the thread attaching the zipper to the pack material failed while hauling it up the face of a long climb). I repaired the zipper attachment using waxed (unflavored) dental floss, and never had a problem since. Actually, the floss thread has held up MUCH better than the original thread to repeated dragging, friction over rough rock, bouncing off the walls in chimneys, etc., etc. Since that time, I've used dental floss to repair many other items and have found that when repairing something with dental floss makes that part of the repair virtually indestructible!!
YMMV

Mike - the NRA pack looks very good, but the big NRA label isn't as inconspicuous as I like to be.
I suppose I could go for the LL Bean canvas rucksack or an OD messenger bag with a big marijuana leaf on it...
I understand. Which is why I would remove the NRA label/patch and/or find a different outlet which carries the manufacturer's brand/products (at this time, Amazon.com does NOT carry the brand). No sense in advertising what *might* be inside.

The Rush 24 has an awesome interior. I fondled one extensively, but decided not to buy, but to instead get a (much) more expensive pack. It has lots of interior organization. It reminds me of (yet another) pack I have, an Australian Light Horse 72. The interiors and overall design are very similar.

Weet, I think I found a better price WITHOUT the NRA tag. Take a look. The price difference should more than cover the shipping cost.

I carry a Samsonite briefcase in basic black (the plastic version of an LLB (leather lunchbox).
I've noticed that the bigger the carry bag the more tempted I am to carry all sorts of extra "what-if" stuff, to the point that it gets painfully heavy.
Did you say you carried Letters of Transit (which cannot be revoked or questioned)?
The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .

I do that, too. My method of controlling total load is controlling the volume of the pack. ("Stuff expands to fill the volume available.")
I carried the LLB for years, but it didn't hold all the "what-if" stuff that I wanted - and I freely admit that I carry the "what-if" stuff more for entertainment value than for any other reason. I will use this pack (as I use my current pack) for weekend trips as well, so it goes beyond the LLB.
I'm really liking the Rush 24 for its versatility and limited size. Mike's 1776 pack looks good for purely what-if stuff, but it doesn't look as good for paperwork (bills, files, catalogs, books, etc).
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

I watched this video review of the bag, and although it appears very versatile, you'd probably need to use an organizer/planner for your paper items - unless you used one of the zipper bags for all that stuff. The advantage of doing so would be the bag would stay put, not shifting around since it could be secured by velcro.

Just a warning I have used some 5.11 stuff in the past and have been less than impressed, most notably a pair of shoes that broke right out of the box. My senior year West Point cadet brother just laughs whenever I mention 5.11. Apparently no one he knows uses their gear and it is regarded as subpar in the circles he travels in.

That's the kind of help I'm looking for. Real-life durability experience. What brands do they like?
