Looking for a holster

Post by TheIrishman »

I'm in need of a holster it seems no one makes. While roaming my sisters property, getting the range set up and doing general handyman work(The price I pay for using their range) I've taken to moving my Bianchi belt slide holster to about the 12:30 position. It works well there, staying out of the way of being bumped and actually conceals quite well with a flannel shirt. Positioned correctly it even allows me to sit comfortably, the barrel of my full size CZ slipping right into the crease between my thigh and groin. That is until I lean forward. At that point the grip is too high and digs into my stomach.

What I want is an IWB holster that allows the pistol to sit lower, the grip just above the belt line but with no cant. It seems all of the IWB holsters generally available are designed to ride at 3:00 or just behind the hip and have a forward cant to them. Basically I am looking for appendix carry of a full size pistol. "Going Mexican" with the pistol in this position to try it out works very well. It doesn't stay put however due to lack of a holster.

A good starting point would probably be something like Evyl Robot's Executive II, only riding lower and preferably Kydex or having a reinforced opening. A Hybrid with leather toward the body and Kydex toward the belt would also be an option.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Dale Fricke Archangel. I bought one for my G29 and it's a good unit. Been using it as a regular IWB holster though; I haven't been able to bring myself to carry with my pistol pointed down there... I mostly carry crossdraw still, but when I do carry IWB the AA has pretty much supplanted the Kramer IWB I used to use.

Have you dropped Evyl Robot a line? He's was very easy to work with in getting custom details on my current carry belt*. Especially since you use one of his holsters with a few changes as your example.

(*Haven't done a holster with him, yet. I'm happy with me Ted Blocker ST-17, IWB at 3 O'Clock)

He designed a holster for me from the ground up. It has elements of a few different holsters, but there's nothing else like it. He'll work with you.

I may wind up having to get Robot to make me one for my GP100. I have been unable to find one that really meets my specs. I know he can probably make one to my specs in leather, but I'd really like something in synthetic.

My ears are burning! Yes, I'd love to work with you on a holster. To be honest, I've been using an aluminum interliner in most of my IWB holsters that stiffens them up a lot. One handed operation isn't a problem. I've very much enjoyed working with TGC people on stuff.

Are you doing synthetic yet? Or mavbe nylon? I'm looking for a thumb break strong side, medium rise for my GP100. The holster would be vertical, with maybe a very slight forward cant, and the grip at or very slightly below belt line. Somewhere between a low border-ride carry, and a high-rise carry. A general purpose/walkabout/hunting/working-on-fences holster, but thumbbreak with a mostly covered trigger guard.
