blacksmiting gear

The place for general talk about gun, shooting, loading, camping, survival, and preparedness related tools and gear, as well as gear technology discussion, gear reviews, and gear specific "range reports" (all other types of gear should be on the back porch).

blacksmiting gear

Post by Johnnyreb »

I remember some time back a thread discussing anvils and blacksmithing. I ran across this site a few minutes ago. A guy who makes medieval armor and jousts, along with his wife. In the blacksmithing section, there is a picture of his portable blacksmithing setup he takes along to festivals.

His forge is a wooden box with firebrick in it. I thought some of you guys might find it interesting... or possibly want one. :)

There's a diagram for constructing a bellows too.

If you're interested in this, there's a medieval renaissance castle being built in northern Arkansas right now: Ozarks Medieval Fortress.

They're building it like it would have been built. Quarrying and cutting their own stone, muscle powered cranes, forge on site, etc. We took our Scouts there. It's worth a visit.
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

Looks super cool except they are closed for 2012 (so far).
