Yard signs in your neighborhood?

Post by Dub_James »

I've noticed a big difference between this election and '04;

There's nowhere near the same number of yard signs, but especially nowhere near the number of Democrat signs as there was back in '04.

I remember seeing Kerry signs everywhere, but there's only a handful of Obama signs around, generally outnumbered by McCain signs.

We had a family of upstaters move into the neighborhood a few months ago. Their yard is filled with Democrat yard signs. We already have our token hippy-dippy Democrats, we don't need any more.

So the Republican political signs all around us just happen to be pointed right where it's the first thing they see in the morning as they leave and the last thing they see as they pull in to their garage at night.

It's hard to guage the voting trend in my current neighborhood by counting signs. It was probably 50/50 before Friday night. Then somebody came through and nicked all of the Republican signs. They even took the McCain signs!

We only received ours last Thursday, so it hasn't been out that long. So far, it's remained untouched.

My neighborhood has plenty of signs for democrats for local and state office, but very few for the chosen one. There are lots of McClain tho.

The area around my house seems like it is split 50/50 or maybe even 60/40 McCain, but it is hard to tell because the McCain signs keep getting knocked over / stolen.

True enough, Chris, but what I find amazing is how little that enthusiasm shows overall, at least in this area of VA. You'd expect far more Obama stuff on lawns and in car windows since they make so much more noise. He's their Messiah, and yet Kerry got more signage!

We headed out towards Lynchburg a couple of weeks ago, and even there, McCain signage was 2 to 1 ahead.

What I've been seeing seems much more in line with the claims that the polls are rigged in the Dems favor.

Since a majority voted for Bush last time, even with all the crap he took for the war, it seems some of them get the feeling they have to manipulate the system.

In my, otherwise, generally liberal neighborhood, there are exactly two BO signs and exactly ONE McCain sign. The enthusiasm for the Obamessiah just isn't there, I think! It would be hoot if BO loses even CA. ;-)

Perhaps some of that complacency will work against Obama. If his own people think he's a shoo-in, they might not be too pushed to turn out for him.
