Looking for a lightweight body armor

To be worn under professional clothes. I remember reading something about most current body armor is excessively heavy because the testing requirements for police departments require it to work soaking wet.

How well does body armor work against knives?

A friend is a lawyer w. Child Protective Services, and has decided both to get her CHL, and is considering getting body armor for home visits, if it isn't too awkward.

Most thinner body armor doesn't work particularly well against knives. Most stab vests don't work particularly well against bullets.

From what I've seen, that tends to be the gist of it. Light weight ballistic vests(like those worn by plain clothed/under cover officers) are light and suited for bullets, where those designed to be stab "resistant"(not proof) are much heavier.

If you're in Texas, chances are that any body armor you wear under your clothes will be soaking wet.
