Doesn't pay to show off...

Saw this video, http://www.nothingtoxic.com/media/12191 ... ally_Owned, and dang near snorted soda through the nose.

Wonder if he learned anything from it.

Jesse Ventura(yes, THAT Jesse Ventura) has a saying that particularly applies to this - Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat

Personally, I've always thought that JuJitsu(sp?), Krav Maga, and a few others (some of the Kenpo systems) were about the best for true fighting. What I've found interesting is the "Semper Fu" system taught by the Marines - anybody know anything about it?

I will say that I stand by one of my favorite snark comments for those who run their mouths about "Bullshido" - Smith and Wesson beat Monkey fist

we used to use a simple motto in a fight situation. "twist it, break it"

whatever your opponent is throwing at you, arms, legs, fingers, fists... just grab and twist really hard.

works surprisingly well.

the only time i ever found it to be ineffective was when doing concert security on the floor of the venue.

in a large crowd, it was more effective to cross my arms in front of me and step full speed at the person i wanted to take down.

of course that wouldnt work outside of a crowded place for obvious reasons.

LOL Chris's remark about never kicking above the waist reminded me of the famous scene in the movie Billy Jack, when he put his foot upside the guys head. Ever see The Born Losers, the FIRST Billy Jack movie? It came out about four years before the eponymous film. It's Billy Jack vs. bikers. When the trouble starts, Billy Jack doesn't do any fancy foot-upside-the-head stuff, he just pulls out a pistol and shoots the guy. LOLOL

Here's a link to imdb's page on The Born Losers:

This an on going point of contention between some friends of mine and myself. They can't seem to believe that with their multiple black belts and training that a confrontation would be:

Me: "Put your arms up"
Them: raising arms
Me: Bang!Bang!Bang!

Of course, I've never told them the difference between putting their arms up and putting their arms into an action postion

I have to agree with Chris about never kicking above the waist, but even then you can get your leg grabbed. I'm pretty sure I told the story, in the old forum, about the dog that wanted some Aaron steaks that I tried to kick in the head. It bit my foot. Kinda hurt.

Another time I was surprised by some rushing me and tried to kick him in the knee (directly from midstride) and he caught my foot and brought it up to his chest.

the trick with kicking is to never commit to the kick until the absolute last possible second. you have to be ready to come back to two feet at any time. so kicks need to be swift and decisive. ive trained to use kicks from ankle up to head and above... the only ones ive ever used in practicality were downward angles against shins and knees. Those were generally done in dark situations where i had the advantage of not being clearly visible.
