I dunno - here's the bulk suscriber fees for cable channels from 2009. The most expensive one was just over 4 bucks. Discovery channel is 25 cents. Food network? 8 cents. All but the top 2(both sports channels) are under a buck. Even with the add on overhead of a reseller, it shouldn't be more than double the bulk rate, because a net based reseller doesn't have a massive infrastructure to maintain, unlike Cable.mekender wrote:I figured it out one time, for me to get, CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, FOX News, Discovery, History, Military, Food, HGTV and 2 or 3 kids channels, it would run me well over $100 a month. I pay half that now and get almost 150 channels...

But there are no resellers that are allowed to do those things because of exclusivity contracts with cable and other providers.HTRN wrote:I dunno - here's the bulk suscriber fees for cable channels from 2009. I have read the same that cancellations are way up and competition is strong.
We have never had cable TV, Internet or even decent over the air service here in the burbs in Western AZ. We relied on the "Big dish" (got one in '84) and the most we paid for great service (about 400 channels) was approximately $500.00 annually. Then about 4 years ago, C-Band folded and we went to the small dish . EXPENSIVE !!!About $125.00/monthly for less channels, but could watch more than one 'channel" on different TV's.
Got tired of rising costs , so called Direct this week (dumped Dish) and lowered our bill by almost $50.00/month and got the NFL package included at no extra cost . Competition is working !
We don't have fast 'nuf internet, so streaming is out of the question. Hughes satellite would cast me an additional $150.00 monthly to have real HS internet.

I'm with BB - In the boonies the internet seems like dialup. Direct TV is loaded with infomercials and i only watch Fox, history, Sci channel, and a few others but can't get them without the whole enchilada.....Wife is addicted to hgtv..... I get tired of lookin' at other peoples houses.

Aren't the home decorating shows porn for aspiring interior decorators?McClarkus wrote:I'm with BB - In the boonies the internet seems like dialup. The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .
