Doc, if I may -
A) Who do you want to buy this product?
B) Why do you want them to carry it?
C) What would they need this kit for?
If you answer those three questions, you'll likely make up your mind on the questions your having.

And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

Re: The Executive's FAK
UPDATE:
Just got the prototype in from Chinook Medical, and I really like it.
First impression; this is a little better than I expected.
Wish I could make it $10-20 bucks cheaper, but I can't do that without taking key components out.
I still need to monkey around with it, but I think it is going to work well.
A couple of things I have noticed.
First, the ziploc along the long axis is a big improvement since it makes it easier to get into and out of.
Second, there is enough spare space in it that I can slip a scalpel and thoracentesis needle in, and still close it back up with a little bit of room to spare.
Third, the demensions are a little different, and I need to see if this will still work for jeans pockets and twin mag pouches. I think it will.
I will keep you guys posted.

If you answer those three questions, you'll likely make up your mind on the questions your having.
B) Because for the size and weight, it is the most "bang for your buck"
C) This is a highly versatile kit which could be used for the car, range bag, travel, camping, or could be used as a base kit to be added on to as situation dictates. It would probably be better to say what it is *not* for, which is multiple casualty treatment, or for long duration care. It really kind of sucks for those needs.

Just let me know the price, and I will definitely be getting a couple.

Re: The Executive's FAK
Well, it's done!
I got the prototype a couple of weeks ago and have been fiddling around with it since.
I will try to post pics later, but for right now, it's finished.
Here are the contents and price:
05168LE QuikClot Combat Gauze, Z-Folde 1.00 EACH
500470 Black SWAT-T Tourniquet Tactic 1.00 EACH
12099 HALO Seal (2/pk) 1.00 EACH
01074 5 X 9" Trauma Pad Rec 1.00 EACH
02120 Nasopharyngeal Airway, 28fr Fi 1.00 EACH
02125 Surgilube, 3g Packet 1.00 EACH
21004 Sheer Strips 1 x 3 Band-Aid, E 5.00 EACH
05193 Aspirin 325 mg Tablets Rec 1.00 EACH
05195 Ibuprofen Rec 1.00 EACH
12001 Diphenhydramine Rec 1.00 EACH
01134 Safety Pins, 2" 2.00 EACH
99804LG Nitrile Gloves, LG 2.00 EACH
01203 Splinter Picker/Tick Remover 1.00 EACH
05140 Triple Antibiotic Ointment Rec 2.00 EACH

Quantity/Price breakdown:
1-12 @ $83.20
13-24 @ $80.60
25-99 @ $75.40
100+ @ $72.80
My testing included breaking open the vacuum seal, pulling everything out and then repacking it a few times. I also added in a needle and scalpel just for giggles. It fits in my back pocket, and without the decompression needle, it will SNUGLY fit in a twin AR mag pouch. It's small enough that you can fit it into the inside pocket of a sports coat easily (at least I can; I am sure pocket sizes vary).
Understanding my bias, I think that this is a great little kit for the vehicle, the E&E bag, the range bag, the camping kit, and probably a few other uses. I also think that you can easily use this as the basis for a more heavy duty medical kit. Add a tourniquet and an Oalaes bandage, and you have a tactical medical kit.
Anyway, I am really happy with the results.
If you are really turned off by the price, then I am sure that Chinook would be willing to put together the same thing for you without the combat gauze. That will bring the cost down to $40-$45, I think. It is not on the website yet, but I will let you know when it is, and will provide a link.

Re: The Executive's FAK
Thanks for all your work on this project, Doc!!
Once again, to reiterate, if someone was to want to order this specific setup and price you have worked for, is there a specific name of the product they need to ask for? And should they ask for a specific person when making the order so they know what's going on, and the price they should expect to hear on the phone? Also, if there's a price break when ordering your "Doc Russia" unit, if someone would like to add additional items to their order, will those items also receive the 'price break'/discount?
THANKS, Doc!!

Re: The Executive's FAK
The way it is supposed to work, you go to Chinook medical, and under their search query, type "doc Russia" "Executive FAK" or something like that, and it will show up. There may not be a picture. Then, you just order it.308Mike wrote:Thanks for all your work on this project, Doc!!

I do not know about price breaks for additional items, but I suspect they have their own break points which they would go by.
And it is not up on the website yet. Sorry for the delay, but I only gave them final recommendations a couple of days ago, so it may not be up until later next week.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all your input and creativity and experience you put into this project!! I know there are many of us who REALLY appreciate all you've done, and if you're ever out San Diego way, drop me a line 'cause I'd LOVE to buy you a drink or beer (buying you and your's a nice dinner will have to wait until I'm back working full-time).
THANK YOU!!
