Covert rifle carry

The place for general talk about gun, shooting, loading, camping, survival, and preparedness related tools and gear, as well as gear technology discussion, gear reviews, and gear specific "range reports" (all other types of gear should be on the back porch).

I think the label will stay. I do plan to sew some Velcro into the ends to affix a padded divider and some more on either side of the end that has some room left so I can attach a cleaning kit, FAK and/or a pouch with additional ammo. Now I just have to resist the urge to cover it with MHI patches.

That's what I was thinking. Is it not just stitched on in such a way that you could snip/cut the stitches?

Didn't check yet. I don't think I'll pull it off unless I find something less indicitive of a gun in a similar size/shape to replace it. I also don't really want the replacement to make it more likely to be stolen... like "Sony" or "Cannon".

Gabe Suarez's One Source Tactical shop has a number of covert bags in various sizes and we know he puts them through Hell and back before he'll sell them.

I'm still looking for a range mat type drag bag that I saw years ago and haven't seen since...Basically a type of thin foam mattress, covered in nylon that had a wider section that unfolded at where the head would be that had a wide slot in it for your bipod to fit into--preventing your bipod from sliding forward...IIRC there were a bunch of pockets sewn along one or both sides for your accessories but I can't remember if it folded for transport of rolled up...What I liked about it was the foam was surprisingly very comfortable to lie on and the bag was wider through the body then a camper mat would be which helped support your knees and hips if you were shooting in the Russian target prone position (which I did).

I'd checked but can't find a web site for it or a company that carries it, not that I've looked at every shooting supply house out there by any means...If anyone knows of it, I'd be eternally grateful, my pocket book will hate you and my daughters will praise you.

Makes sense. Also, rather than a divider in the main compartment, had you considered putting some Velcro or snap tabs on the inner walls to secure your upper and lower from rattling against each other? It might be worth considering, or it might be more of a PITA.

Good thought. I may just do both.

THREAD NECROMANCY COMMENCE!

Jeezus, this thing ran all over the place, didn't it?

Well I shall now breathe life into it anew in order to post this link, found as a result of the EDC covert backpack thread:

http://www.511tactical.com/All-Products ... T-M4.html#

I think, at least, that that is probably just about exactly what CC was originally looking for.

Now if we could just convince these idiots to make them in colors OTHER than black... like royal blue, or red, or even a forest green. Then NOBODY would think there's a gun in there.

That looks a lot like a Sneaky Rifle Bag. Can't really blame them for making a copy since Sneaky Bags is out of business now.

Cool. Yeah, I tried to order a sneaky bag but the website is gone. I may have to get one of these.... I think the color is ok.

I don't know how truly "tactical" black is to the average person.

When I bought some storage bags for my bike and was looking at paniers for carrying extra gear on amateur radio public service events, it was impossible to find anything locally in any other color than black.

I would have thought bright high-visibility colors would be a plus on a bicycle, but apparently not.
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".
