Wow, people actually pay those prices?
Batching it tonight -- young 2/5 Marine just off his first MEU crashing here and off to church together tomorrow. Got him some salt and some sea stories. Took down a couple freighters as part of their MEU's MRF (Maritime Raid Force). Back for a year and then rotate to the 'Stan.
Anyway, we're both flogging these here intrawebz trying to find a better price for Oakley's ballistic shades online. My google-fu isn't coming up with any smokin' deals. Anyone got a vowel to sell?

Just located Oakley's military site/webpage and registered. Now to wait for his ID to be accepted and see what it offers service members.

Would Rudys work? There's a 40% off code for them.

Is that the military price? Seems high, unless he wants something very specialized. I get my glasses from usstandardissue, actually, those were Flak Jackets that I was wearing at the rapture party.blackeagle603 wrote:Yeah, seeing $129 best price for the base model he's shopping.

I'm trying to figure out why people think they need Oakleys. $15 worth of material, $110 worth of name brand.
If the Marine has to have glasses that meet higher standards than ANSI Z87.1, Revisions Sawfly glasses meet MIL-V-43511C clause 3.5.10 and MIL-PRF-31013 clause 3.5.1.1.
$45 here.

A lot of those interchangeable lens glasses are garbage. The Sawfly has a pretty good rep, I believe, but ESS glasses? Absolute junk. I'm not the only person who had to tape them to his face in the field to keep them together. They just keep falling apart.Termite wrote:I'm trying to figure out why people think they need Oakleys. $15 worth of material, $110 worth of name brand.

Plus, eye protection isn't just about fragmentation and dust. If you're outside in a place with nice reflective sand for 12-15 hours at a shot, UV protection is paramount. Of course, I am speaking to the guy who works on an oil rig, so I bet you're wearing shades whenever you're outside.

I sunburnt my retinas on the rifle range at The Basic School in 2006, so I always wear quality glasses whenever I can.
