Re: outfitting yourself/your gun for night time
Is there anyone else who would really like to be able to say "put on the NVG" but can't afford them... Although, I'd be more likely to use them hunting...

I think cruising through a darkened house looking for a noise is a bad plan. They can get the drop on your average homeowner. I think flooding the house with light is a good way to maker them have a o'shit moment and flee.

I agree with you whole heartily, it's a bitch seeing in the dark but with a flashlight at the end of your arm/handgun/long gun you do have an advantage in blinding them but total light is much better...We have an alarm system on the house (Smarthome wiring) and if I hit a button all the plugged in lamps (top plug only} and overhead lights go on throughout the house and exterior as well...CombatController wrote:I think cruising through a darkened house looking for a noise is a bad plan. You don't need a light outside of your home because it is no longer castle domain and shooting a malcontent in the back while they're running away is frowned on by the police and courts...

I can't help, but think about my uncle's four ankle biters when reading this. While they're small they don't go for ankles. Left calf, left arm, groin, and throat.your pack of small hungry dogs will bite the intruder's ankles off

Mekender, I knew I liked you. Parachute flares are absolutely the way to go. In my estimation, though, an intruder will leave after hearing radio static and then "SPECTRE, do you copy?"
Really, though, I'm having a hard time figuring out a stable platform for mounting a flashlight to my shotgun. I tried the whole "plasticized mag clamp" thing, and that just bounced right off. I don't have the money for a Surefire forend. So, what's left for a growing boy?

And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

3-Rail Pic Mount
1" accessory rail
Combine the last two with a short Weaver ring or two and you're set.

I've got good night vision and live in an apartment. More than enough light for me. My choice would be a flashlight for target ID, but I live alone. If someone's here besides me, we got a problem. Well, they do, anyhow...
Nearly forgot. I've got a tritium front post on my AR, and plan on putting them on my 1911, 686, and my Mossberg as finances allow.
