Why you need a gun.

Post by Jered »

Some dude just decided to attack some random car.

Next time hit the gas.

Supposedly, it was a hoax, but it's still a good way to get someone shot.

If I understand my CCW training and law, the driver could do nothing in defense with a pistol while the guy was beating on the body of the car. HOWEVER, as soon as he breached the window you have the legal right to shoot. At least in VA anyways.

It looks like the driver was (mostly) trapped by traffic for the initial part of the attack. Were it me, I would have powered my way through the stopped cars to get away until I couldn't go any further. Hesitation and timidity are not your friends in these situations. My only caveat would be if my 2 year old son was in the car with me. In that scenario our gangsta' choirboy would have been the bologna in a car sammich' as soon as he walked in front of the vehicle. Hell hath no fury like a parent whose child is threatened by a feckless no-goodnik... Even if this was a hoax it should give you pause as to what you would do in these situations. If you have the option run like the wind. If you don't, have a plan to do more than just oscillate between drive and reverse. Just saying.

I've seen that video before, I'm pretty sure it takes place in Vegas.
HTRN, I would tell you that you are an evil fucker, but you probably get that a lot ~ Netpackrat

Heavy metal bar (tire iron) equals deadly force , BANG . In Fairbanks Alaska , you would probably would not even be detained by the Leo's , bag'em and transport, call insurance for the window. And the guy filming would be arrested for conspiracy or maybe stupidity with out a license.

Yeah. Not reacting to the beating on the car body is a gray area. Breaching the window is a deliberate act of getting at the driver.

Are such scenarios why so many people stop short at stoplights nowadays? Irks the heck outta me, clowns stopping with one or two car lengths open in front of them. Escape route? Is this what they teach in driver's ed nowadays?

The only people I've seen do that use it to give themselves a rolling start, so they're already moving when the light turns green.

I don't stop short at stoplights, but I do keep an open space between myself and any car in front of me.

1. To provide at least a chance of some maneuvering room in case of emergency

2. To minimize the chances of hitting the car in front of me in the event I get rear ended. (The primary cause of almost every accident I've been in as a driver).
