Just got off the phone with Chinook medical. What we are going to do is put together a kit (trying to keep the price down) which they will offer, but not advertise. What this means is that the kit will not be advertised on their website, but if you want that kit, then you punch in the name into their search engine, and it will pop up. I am hoping to keep the price under $75. Some components are expensive, though. The Halo Chest seal and the combat gauze alone are about $60. I know that you guys are mindful of your money, and that a lot of people would prefer cheaper kits. What I have put together is not the cheapest, but the best, IMHO, for the volume. If you want something cheaper, they already offer such kits:

Doubt I will be able to get you guys a discount since there is a very real possibility that this kit may not sell more than a handful.

OTOH, if it does, and it goes "mainstream," what should it be called? We can put whatever name on it we wish (it will still have the Chinook medical logo), so "doc Russia's Executive FAK?" "The Gun Counter FAK?"
Just leave it at "The Executive FAK?"

As funny as it would be to see "our" community's name on something, I agree with Randy - it's your idea, based on your credentials and experience, and it ought to be your name on the final product.

"Doc Russia's Executive First Aid Kit" - This is a good descriptive name.

"The Celebrated Doctor Russia's Tactically Executive Immediate Wound-Curative" - This is a little ostentatious, possibly misleading, might make people think it contains "healing salts" impregnated with mercury and arsenic. Avoid using.

Also, in the "avoid using" category, I decided to look up the information about that decompression needle you had in your first post. I'm glad I looked that up so I know why it's not a good idea for untrained people to have it.

What's your current opinion of quick clotting agents for traumatic deep penetrating, or deep lacerating wounds; particularly deep stab wounds, deep transecting wounds to organs or major blood vessels, and GSW?

I know the new agents don't heat up as much, are less likely to break apart and enter the blood stream, and are less likely to produce an allergic reaction; but the risks for all of the above are still high.

I think I remember you saying something a couple years back about believing the risks of foreign matter contamination, allergic reaction, and clot embolism from the agents was too high in relation to the benefit they provide in most cases? Or maybe that wasn't you, I can't remember at this point.

But you chose not to include a separate quick clotting agent (though the gauze is impregnated with it) while the two kits you linked do.

That was not me that said that, but there is truth to it. Impregnated gauze, or contained sacks of powder negate these very real concerns. This is exactly why I have shied away from the powders. Also, gauze is easier to handle than a powder.

Yes, my site is down. I think the host went TU. So, I have to try to figure out how to get my files out of there and onto my own storage.
