Several reasons prompted this decision:
1.) A friend of mine bought a Zune, and since he didn't have internet access to download the Zune software, I let him use my computer to transfer songs to his Zune from his external hard drive. End result? I spent hours deleting things from my laptop, and no matter how many times I delete them, I keep finding those damnable Love Hina soundtrack files, because:
2.) The stupid Internet backup thing Microsoft thought was a great idea to include. The thing is, this idiotic service can't even tell what it's dealing with half the time. It keeps replacing my unedited songs with radio edits. Frankly, I find a sudden interruption of vocals a lot more jarring than dirty words, which don't even offend me to begin with. It'd be one thing if this only effected files that I'd bought through the Zune Marketplace, but
3.) The Zune Marketplace isn't content with its own shit, and sees fit to mess with tracks I've ripped from CDs or other sources. Who the hell is Mirrorball? I don't know, but apparently Zune saw fit to attribute one of my songs by a well-known artist to them and blank out all the swear words.
As disgusted as I am with how overpriced iProducts are, at least it seems they won't go around messing around with their customers' property.
Well, I'm not using the Zune Marketplace anymore

You don't own iProducts! They still belong to Steve Jobs.

I"m confused...
You're saying that the ZM is replacing your personal files with their "sanitized" versions?
Something REALLY doesn't sound right...
Ps. Zunes allow straight mass-storage copy, Google should easily find the "trick" to mounting it...

Yep. Sometimes it does it backwards, though. For example, a line from the song "Fake It" by Seether.Dedicated_Dad wrote:I"m confused...

Unedited: "Woah, you're such a fuckin' hypocrite."
Well, that version wasn't available to begin with. But they had the "Clean Little" version, which changed "fuckin'" to "little." It actually fit, so I went ahead and got it. Then a few updates later, it changed it to the original version. Even though the song file still has its title as "Fake It (Clean Little version)."

I wouldn't be surprised.Ps. Zunes allow straight mass-storage copy, Google should easily find the "trick" to mounting it...
Yeah, next time I'll just go with Creative or Archos.Mike OTDP wrote:That's what you get for dealing with Microshoddy.

First thing I suggest is something that can take third party firmware - notably Rockbox
I personally like refurbed Sansa Fuses, because they show up every once in awhile on Woot, for pocket money, and you can expand them easily using a MicroSD card.
