Neal is absolutely one of my favorite authors. If you've not read Cryptonomicon, get your hands on a copy.

Snow Crash was beautifully written with some of the best pacing and flow of prose I've seen, although he does plod along at times. I've always planned to read TDA at some point, have to see if I can pick up a copy soon.

A not very well written book that anyone and everyone who does business in, or wants to know about how business is done in China MUST read.

Don't *need* to read it; I *live* it every day.

As for what I'm reading: Chivers' "The Gun", Sharaa's "Rise to Rebellion" and [trying to read] Shirer's "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich"

Just finished Bernard Cornwell's Heretic and Marcelle Size Knaack's, Post-World War II Bombers.

Starting Flint's 1636: The Saxon Uprising.

Still to purchase, Flint's 1635: The Eastern Front and Knaack's Post-World War II Fighters, 1945-1973

Plus whatever I can glean from my local library this week.

At the moment, mostly Wodehouse. I've gone a bit nuts w a Kindle and IPad - I just finished the Journey to the Center of the Earth - its pretty much an indifferent book. It's well-written, and structured, but there's almost no plot.

Reading through Robert Faludi's Wireless Sensor Networks right now. Got a couple of projects I'm working on that need wireless connectivity and WiFi is way too heavy for what I'm building. ZigBee on the other hand fits almost perfectly.

In queue? The 6 Dune books (again), Arthur C Clark's 2001 A Space Odyssey series (again), probably throw in Dante's Divina Commedia (again), and Lord knows what else.

The Destroyermen series by Taylor Anderson; historical-ish alternate universe fiction where a WWI-era destroyer gets transported from WWII Asiatic fleet to a parallel universe where other species are the dominant form of life. Anderson is both an historian and a gunsmith, and his firearm details are accurate yet not as blatantly obvious as Larry Correia's. Currently waiting for the 5th book to come out in paperback so I don't have to spend 25 bucks on the hardback...

I frequently re-read various parts of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series whenever I need a break from any non-fiction I happen to be going through at the time. My favorites are the books involving the City Watch, or those centered around Death (the anthropomorphic personification, not the actual process of dying.)

Just finished Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson; I've read the Mistborn trilogy and Elantris before, and will be picking up his most recently-begun series soon, which starts with The Way of Kings.

Also upcoming are The Gun (on the AK-47), Fatal Shore (the founding of Australia), The Odyssey and the Illiad, and biographies of Ben Franklin and John Paul Jones, among others.

Not reading any books at the moment. I have a problem when I start reading something that I am enjoying; I don't put it down until I either fall asleep or run out of book. Last thing I read was both of the monster hunter books.

Right now it is a mediocre fantasy The Ruling Sea. An Ok near future scifi Plague Zone. And a compilation of historical what if senarios by historians What If?.

I have recently finished American Assassin a prequel of the Mitch Rapp series, Ringo's latest in the Troy Rising series and The Wise Man's Fear which is an excellent fantasy book and the second in what is turning out to be an excellent triology.

I keep seeing these in B&N. I may have to look into book 1. How are you enjoying the series?
