Hey 'Rat, can you go into detail about some of those attitudes? I think I like them already!

There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

Well, in a state full of rednecks, Fairbanks is redneck central. If the '92 election had been decided by Fairbanks, Ross Perot would have become the 42nd president. There are plenty of people living within the city limits who do not have running water. The two big annual gun shows are (or were) held in the gymnasiums of the college and a high school, respectively. And with temperatures in the negative 40s sometimes lasting for weeks at a time, you've just plain got to be tough just to survive there. Even most of the liberals in Fairbanks are tougher than what passes for conservatives down in the '48.skb12172 wrote:Hey 'Rat, can you go into detail about some of those attitudes? Edit to add: When I was there during the mid 90s, there was an incident where some landowner in Salcha (an outskirt of Fairbanks) shot some kid (or at him, anyway) who went tearing across his property on a snow machine (apparently an ongoing problem). At trial, the guy literally gave as his defense that he had clearly posted signs stating that tresspassers would be shot.

POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

Fairbanks where Republicans are considered liberals, Democrats are commies, and the AIP ( Alaska Indepenance Party) is main stream.

I hate to break it to you, but the democrats are pretty much commies everywhere these days. I think per capita, Alaska probably has more democrats that are not total commies than any other state.

I'd have a laugh if it was the girl with whom I went to high school who was the sword-user in this case. She moved from Illinois a few years after high school. She's also most likely among people I know to use a sword instead of a gun.
Remember, folks, you can't spell "douche" without "Che."

I'd use a sword if I didn't have a gun on me. Oh wait, never mind.
