I remember Shania's performance as well as four others she did within a year of that date.. She was the hot ticket at the time so not seeing her somewhere was unavoidable.. SHE LIP SYNCHED ALL OF THEM! I've refused to watch her ever since. And for that matter anybody else who lip synchs.

More power to the people who at least give a half assed live effort.. And no I don't like the Black Eyed Peas

as to Christina--

I think she did a passable job. NO I don't like the stylizing AT ALL, but it seems like everyone does it now so I guess I am getting inured to it. But the nonstylized parts were good. She did dress appropriately and she gave it her all. The lyrical mistake was crappy, but she even realized it and was a trooper and just kept going.

Besides, compared to Rosanne she was AWESOME. not like that's saying much

Ya know is it too much to ask of the music industry that the "stars" actually know how to sing?

Oh and Auto Tune is evil.
Years from now our children and grandchildren living in a 3rd world America will ask "What were you doing on March 21st 2010 and why didn't you stop it?"

I thought the redition of the Anthem stunk, even without the goof. With it, well, it stunk worse. I like my National Anthem sung straight, al la Robert Merrill.

As for the halftime show, also stunk. Not only because of musical tastes either, for instance I don't particularly care for Prince, but I think he's a talented musician. About the only good thing about it is that I think Fergie is moderately cute (hey, she's the first female that's been onstage since Janet Jackson), and I'm willing to bet they checked her costume CAREFULLY against possible wardrobe malfunctions.

Remember, up until 1992, halftime shows were almost all marching bands, or large performing groups. Up with People did the show four times ferchrissakes.

Since then, they've done country twice:

2003 - Shania Twain
1994 - Clint Black, Tanya Tucker, Travis Tritt, The Judds

They've done R&B 8 times, classic rock 7 times, modern rock once (U2 after 9/11), and hip hop once (this year)
And none of those times were situations where the band/artist (a loose use of the term) was actually super popular at the time of their appearance.

Isn't Fergie still in England or somethin?

Man, they were HORRIBLE. I was in my kitchen prepping the second round of food but had to come out into the living room to make sure no one threw anything at the TV

And Fergie is a butterface.

And that was before they rappeled Usher in there, that was like splashing around in a sewer for twenty minutes only to run into a midget who punched you in the nuts with no warning. And what the hell was with the Tron on ice dance performance.

In conclusion, all across America thousand's of fathers turned to their teenage daughters and yelled, "This is you generation's F%$&^$g fault!"
That is poetry. I'm going to find an excuse to use that. OBTW - I did not watch the Super Commercial Bowl this year.

I didn't watch it of course, but Fergie definitely needs what is referred to here as a 'good seeing to' :D

I'll let you work that one out for yourselves :D
